Vivia 2022 Le Mortelle
This is a wine from the Maremma in Tuscany. We visited this winery in July 2023. It is made with a blend of Vermentino, Viogner and Ansonica. The name comes from that.
It displays a bright, pale straw-yellow color with slight greenish hues, suggesting youth and vibrancy. It shows a medium viscosity.
On the nose, the wine presents a fresh, aromatic bouquet with primary aromas of citrus, green apple, and pear. These are complemented by delicate floral notes of acacia and jasmine, along with a subtle hint of Mediterranean herbs and saline minerality, reflective of its coastal terroir.
The palate is lively and refreshing, with crisp acidity balancing the wine's ripe fruit flavors of lemon zest, peach, and white melon. Mid-palate, there’s a touch of creaminess from the Viognier, adding depth and texture to the otherwise light, refreshing body. The Ansonica contributes a hint of almond on the finish, which lingers with a savory, saline touch.
Medium-bodied, with a smooth and well-rounded mouthfeel that finishes with a refreshing acidity and a long finish.
Ideal for pairing with seafood dishes, especially shellfish and grilled fish, as well as fresh salads, soft cheeses, or light pasta dishes with citrus or herb-based sauces.
Vivia 2022 is a well-balanced, aromatic white wine that captures the essence of the Mediterranean coast, offering both freshness and complexity. An excellent choice for warm-weather sipping or as a versatile pairing wine. PM 91
