Ferro e Seta Villa Simone 2016

This is a wine made mostly from Cesanese that is a indigenous grape from Lazio region. We visited this winery in 2019.

**Appearance**:

The 2016 Ferro e Seta presents a deep ruby color with slight garnet reflections, indicating some maturity. The wine shows good clarity and concentration, suggesting its structured nature. The viscosity is medium high

**Nose**:

The bouquet is complex and inviting, with initial aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, and blackberry, interwoven with secondary notes of dried herbs, tobacco, and leather. Hints of sweet spices like cinnamon and vanilla, alongside subtle earthy undertones, emerge as the wine opens up, contributing to its layered profile.

**Palate**:

On the palate, Ferro e Seta 2016 is full-bodied and well-balanced, offering a harmonious blend of fruit and savory characteristics. The dark fruit flavors—blackberry, cherry compote, and blackcurrant—are complemented by undertones of black pepper, cocoa, and a touch of balsamic. The tannins are firm yet refined, providing structure, while the acidity is fresh, lending vibrancy and a lengthy finish. Oak integration is well-judged, with soft notes of vanilla and cedar adding depth without overpowering the fruit.

**Finish**:

The finish is long and persistent, leaving lingering notes of dark chocolate, dried herbs, and a hint of minerality, suggesting potential for further aging.

**Conclusion**:

Ferro e Seta 2016 is a well-crafted, of Cesanese wine; demonstrating the terroir of Lazio. It is drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve over the next 5-7 years. Perfect for pairing with hearty dishes such as roasted meats, game, or aged cheeses.
